Canterbury – Embodied Yoga Principles for Relationships YOGA FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE

May 19th 2018

To escape the Royal Wedding media frenzy why not come and explore the relationships in your own life with Mark Walsh and Karin van Maanen instead?

Regular yoga classes don’t necessarily teach us much about being with others as we tend to stay within the rectangular comfort zone of our yoga mat. So how could yoga inform our relationships?

Embodied Yoga Principles enables us to practice yoga in a very innovative way and make it directly applicable to our daily lives. In this workshop led by Mark Walsh assisted by Karin we will explore how yoga can help us navigate the world of relationship. We are in relationship most of the time. This may be romantic relationships, or how we relate to family, friends or co-workers. Amongst other things, in this workshop we’ll explore giving and receiving in relationships, supporting and receiving support, being seen by others and how we can transform regular yoga postures like warrior by doing them with someone else. This can give us valuable insights into how we are in relationships and how we would like to be, and gives us a chance to practice new ways of being in relationship in a safe, fun and supportive workshop environment.

Mark Walsh designed Embodied Yoga Principles, a pragmatic way of making yoga more meaningful and relevant to our daily lives. This is not a typical yoga workshop – expect to be inspired, laugh a lot and gain some (possibly deep) insights into your own physical/psychological patterns, but in the process expect to be challenged. The day will include sharing experiences with others, group work and some gentle and safe partner work. Your participation is always optional so if any exercises don’t suit you, you can observe or take a break any time.

We don’t recommend signing up for this workshop if you have acute mental health issues or are in the middle of a highly emotional situation such as bereavement or divorce. If in doubt, please contact Karin at karin@yogaandmindfulness.co.uk to discuss.

We recommend you check out the Embodied Yoga Principles website to sample some videos of this work:  www.embodiedyogaprinciples.com
