Note: this course is not fo beginners and all attending should have facilitation experienced and experience with movement arts (yoga, dance, martial arts, etc). We will hit the ground running and delve deeply.
ABOUT THE FACILITATORS
This training is with New York-based Somatic Educator Martha Eddy, and Embodied Facilitator Course founder Mark Walsh, collaborating for the first time.
Dr. Martha Eddy has a long career in the instructional areas of somatics and movement science, including anatomy and physiology, and has been involved with medical research related to dance, therapeutic movement, and adherence to physical activity. She brings to all of this work her academic studies in curriculum development using the movement sciences within biobehavioral studies and health promotion. She is author of the seminal and comprehensive book – Mindful Movement – the evolution of the somatic arts and conscious action, and is working on books related to yoga, social justice, and healing from cancer through movement (based on her system – Moving For Life (-link to www.movingforlife.org) She is known for her work as a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist and as founder of the Dynamic Embodiment – Somatic Movement Therapy Training (DE-SMTT) program, which integrates skilled touch, movement, and compassionate dialogue to help people of all ages and abilities to relieve stress, find enhanced expressiveness, and balance all aspects of the body and psyche. drmarthaeddy.com
Mark Walsh has dedicated his life to embodied learning. He founded the Embodied Facilitator Course (UK and Russia), Embodied Yoga Principles, The Embodiment Conference and Europe’s first embodied business training company – Integration Training. He has taught in thirty countries and made embodiment available online through a YouTube channel that has over 13 million hits and on The Embodiment Podcast. He has a degree in psychology, an aikido black-belt and has trained with various body-mind masters and in many approaches, including in body psychotherapy, yoga, dance, bodywork and meditation. Past clients have included Unilever, L’Oreal, Virgin Atlantic, Shell, Oxfam, The NHS, Ikea and The House of Lords. He has also worked with peace and trauma projects in Israel/Palestine, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Brazil, East Africa and with the Sierra Leonian Army. He also likes cats.
